Alex Genealogy provides services including but not limited to: genealogical research, family tree development, historical consulting, customized family books and tree prints, presentations, and genealogy-based tours or events. All services are custom and client-specific.
Consultations & Research Process
Initial consultations are designed to understand your project goals, assess available documentation, and determine the appropriate research path. Outcomes are not guaranteed due to the nature of historical records and data availability, but every effort will be made to deliver thorough, ethical, and well-documented work.
Scope of Work & Expectations
Research requires an initial consultation and review of Client’s existing documentation. A research plan will be formed after evaluation. All findings will be sourced and documented. Reports and documents will be provided in digital and/or paper format. No guarantees can be made regarding the discovery of specific ancestors or documents, but all reasonable efforts will be made.
Confidentiality
All Client-provided information not in the public domain will remain confidential. Client’s name, address, and personal details will not be shared with third parties. Alex Genealogy values the privacy of your family history. All personal information, documentation, and research materials will be kept confidential and used solely for the purpose of completing your project unless otherwise authorized.
Copyright & Usage Rights
The genealogist retains copyright over research work, including reports. The Client is granted a non-exclusive license to use the research for personal purposes but cannot publish, distribute, or make multiple copies without prior written permission. If shared, Alex Genealogy must be credited as the source.
Client Responsibilities
The Client is responsible for accurate transmission of information. Deposits must be paid in full before research begins. Additional costs for documents, records, certificates, and travel expenses will be billed separately.
Payment & Billing Terms
Deposits cover initial research costs; additional expenses will be pre-approved by the Client.
Field travel (beyond 65 miles from Beaumont, TX) requires lodging expenses (capped at $100 per night). A detailed invoice will be sent to the Client. PAYMENT PLANS are accepted.
Refunds & Cancellations
Due to the personalized nature of our services, completed work is non-refundable. Cancellations made more than 2 days prior to a scheduled session may be eligible for rescheduling without additional charges. No-shows or last-minute cancellations may result in forfeiture of the deposit.
Final Product & Delivery
The final research report will only be released after full payment is received. Delivery will occur within three business days after the final payment is processed. The signed agreement must be returned with full payment or a 50% deposit before research begins.
Modifications & Updates
Alex Genealogy reserves the right to modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. Clients will be notified of material changes prior to services being rendered under new terms.
